Women Empowerment in Zanzibar


Objectives:
To contribute to reduced poverty and improved social justice in Zanzibar.
Specific Objective:
Income increased and social, cultural, and political barriers to women's empowerment progressively overcome for 6000 rural poor women in four districts of Pemba and Southern Unguja Zanzibar

Activities:
- Technical suport to associates; Introduce Village Savings and Loan Scheme (VSL) and facilitate group formation for 6000 women in 300 VSL groups; Train and support those women in VSL methodology and management.
- Facilitate social analysis for 5000 women in 250 VSL groups. Technical support to 5000 women in 250 groups for action plan implementation; suport 3000 women in 50 VSL groups in project design, fundraising and implementation; disseminate broad scale awareness about gender issues across Zanzibar
- Facilitate sub sector analysis; train 2500 women on developing and added value to new products; Facilitate marketing strategies; assist 2500 women in produces groups to manage susstainable access of necessary raw materials
- Conduct gender training for project partners and associates
