The Promotion and Protection of Women's Human Rights through Legal Aid and Advocacy campaigns
Objectives:
• Provide legal aid service to needy women and children
• Undertake legal and human rights education to selected communities
• Strengthen paralegal work
• Advocate on laws and policies that are gender insensitive
Activities:
• Provide legal aid through hotline at WLAC
• Conduct reconciliation sessions
• Conduct TV advertisement /TV slides
• Conduct planning meeting with three selected paralegal units (Mtwara, Shinyanga and Mbeya) to deal with issues of early marriages, elderly killings and HIV/AIDS
• Provide legal advice to communities
• Conduct monitoring visits
• Conduct evaluation
• Printing of paralegal manual
• Conduct roundtable discussion with MPs on gender insensitive laws namely customary inheritance law and law of marriage act 1971 and on the need to enact domestic violence and HIV/AIDS laws
