STABEX
Objectives: To promote tea holder production and quality in Tanzania
Activities: 1. Farmer training. This includes training programmes for collaborating extension workers, farmers and participating researchers. A farmer Training Specialist will be contracted to oversee implementation of this subprogram.
2. Smallholder nursery schemes. - the establishment of 86 village based nurseries to produce 10 million plants over one and a half years. A nursery scheme manager and one assistant will be contracted to oversee the implementation of this sub programme.
3. Research support - the procurement of irrigation equipment, tractor & implements, farm weather station equipment, motor vehicles and project staff salaries. This includes building additional staff quarters and furnishing staff quarters at Ngwazi Tea Research Station and for tea field development at NTRS
