Rafiki Mitiki: a scattered cooperative teakwood plantation


Objectives:
- Get out of the subsistence perspective
- Promote ecologically sustainable development, by contributing to the sustainable management of plantation forests
- Reduce dependence
- Reduce poverty
- Establish a cooperative of at least 1500 small farmers to plant at least 7000 Teakwood trees per year according to a scattered pattern, that is: in single rows along borders of their plots

Activities:
- Carry on all the planned meetings for awareness-motivation, and seminars for transfer of knowledge/competences, illustrate the Mitiki Lottery and other built-in incentives
- Elaborate the rules of the Cooperative and complete the process for its registration
- Keep the logistic infrastructure working and the network of human/professional/institutional relationship consolidating and expanding
- Exploit at best the technical support by the MNRT-FBD and by the other partners/associates, keep looking for other supporters
- Get the trees planted and use the rules of the Coop plus the incentives to support both planning and adequate caring of trees at any subsequent year
