National Fistula Programme


Objectives:
To build an effective, comprehensive approach to adress fistula in the context of maternal morbidity and mortality.


Activities:
1.Build a partnership among government, non-governmental actors, professionals, the media and others to address fistula in the context of MM&M and the health needs of the poor
2.Increase public awareness and understanding of fistula and maternal mortality and morbidity MM&M in order to mobilize action for prevention, treatment and reintegration
3.Build capacity of local health care providers (principally surgeons and nurses) to treat and manage fistula, and prevent the condition
4.Ensure girls and women are able to access high quality fistula care in an efficient manner and return to a life of dignity following treatment
5.Increase understanding of fistula at the family, community and health systems levels in order and develop prevention strategies .
