MAMA-Mradi wa Maji na Maendeleo, Same District.


Objectives:
Overall objective(s): Gender balanced poverty reduction in Same District through the access to water and sanitation services.

Specific objective: Establishment of safe, affordable and sustainable W&S services in the selected villages and improved governance in W&S and management of water resources at local, district and basin level.

Activities:
- Construction/drilling of water supply systems.
- Creation and enhancement of WUAs to manage the systems.
- Hygiene promotion campaigns execution at community and school level.
- Construction of latrines in public places and promotion of construction of private ones at household level. Sanitation campaign execution.
- Training of DWD staff on technical issues for systems design and quality analysis and on community management.
- Training of DWD on Water Act and district responsibilities.
- Establishment of a follow up system for community water schemes between district and WUAs.
- Elaboration of a Geographical Information System (GIS) with water, sanitation, hygiene and health data.
- Elaboration of DWD Strategic Plan for 2011-2015.
