Livelihoods, incomes and village institutions in the Ngurus (Living), Tanzania


Objectives:
- Improve the social and economic status of marginalised rural communities in Mvomuero District
- Strengthen representative, community-based institutions for natural resource management and economic development around the South Nguru Mountains

Activities:
- Introductions & awareness-raising on Participatory Forest Management (capacity assessment/building, resource assessment & management planning, agreements, advocacy for improved policy & legalisation)
- Introductions and awareness-raising on village Savings & Loan (methodologies & training material, group formation, training, business development services)
- Assessment of roles and responsibilities of women in society (gender mainstreaming, ensuring gender equity in group formation, planning, decision-making and implementation, training of district government, develop gender advocacy plans at various scales)
- Development of Monitoring & Evaluation framework (baseline survey of institutional capacity and household economy, terminal external evaluation)
