Improvement of Good Governance on village level in Handeni District
Objectives:
• Improvement of good governance on village level including performance of village committees
• Increased knowledge of good governance principles as well as rights and duties of citizens on local level
• Strengthening of local democratic structures and dialogue between civil society and local government authorities
• Involvement of citizens (and particularly women) in political decision-making on local level
• Increased participation of civil society in planning processes on village level, i.e. in setting up village development and village action plans
Activities:
• Conduction of Good Governance training workshops for local leaders, village committee members and other representatives of civil society in 34 villages of Handeni district
• Training topics include: Good Governance principles, rolls and responsibilities of village leaders, councillors and local government authorities, local revenues, rules of democratic elections, roles and tasks of village committees, budgeting, village development plans, village action plans, monitoring & evaluation
• Follow-up meetings with the participants of the Good Governance training workshops evaluating experiences of applying the acquired skills
