Implementation of the Strategic Plan 2008 - 2011: Legal and Human Rights activities
Objectives:
• To contribute in building a vibrant society which respects democracy, human rights, the rule of law and good governance practices
Activities:
• To raise the awareness of the people in legal literacy and human rights matters and in particular to the law affecting the socio economic welfare of the people in Zanzibar
• To advocate for changes and reforms of legal policies and laws affecting the human rights and welfare of the people of Zanzibar
• To provide legal assistance, advice and counselling to the historically disadvantaged groups of people in the community
• To carry out litigation on major cases of public interests
• To empower the citizens to be aware of their Civic and Human Rights and enable them to fight for justice
• To promote the use of the library and information resource Centre
• To improve the governance and institutional capacity
