IFAKARA HEALTH RESOURCES CENTRE 2007-2012
Objectives:
The Objectives of the Project are to:
•Establish a district health observatory to provide a window on policy performance in practice.
•Provide an independent, knowledgeable and respected commentary on public policy performance in the health sector to inform and stimulate national debate and increase accountability.
•Provide a growing repository of health sector information for use by health planners and managers, donors, media, researchers and consultants.
•Make optimal use of Ifakara knowledge and expert personnel to advise and assist health development in Tanzania.
Activities:
•Establish a sentinel group of (5+) districts to serve as a platform for the generation of evidence on health sector performance through the triangulation of information from:
•Demographic sentinel surveillance systems
•Routine health service statistics
•Operations research
•Monitor the performance of the health sector (including HIV/AIDS) in Tanzania in terms of service delivery and public health improvement. This should include comparative assessment across councils and regions.
•Provide regular analysis and commentary on policies, plans and budgets to inform national debate and strengthen accountability
