Health 117 AIDS Helpline and Media Resource Centre
Objectives:
• To contribute to the Nation HIV/AIDS Communication and Advocacy Strategy (NCS) area of building youth leadership for prevention at their community and policy level
• To contribute to NCS strategic area of prevention (including Gender Equity and Equality) fighting stigma and discrimination through interpersonal 117 AIDS Helpline services
• To contribute to NCS strategic area of condom promotion and distribution through Ubungo Bus Terminal drivers, conductors, passengers and petty traders
• To contribute to NCS strategic area of voluntary counselling and testing (VCT)
• To contribute to NCS strategic area of Health promotion for specific vulnerable population groups; children, youth, girls and women, men and disabled people
Activities:
• Expand the National 117 AIDS Helpline services by training volunteer counsellors and employing medical staff
• Increase coverage of services through the provision of HIV/AIDS behaviour change communication outreach activities
• Building a database in that website with referral information system on HIV/AIDS, VCT, Care and treatment clinics
• TAYOA strengthen its linkages with Prevention of Mother to Child
• Develop and produce large individualized audio materials
• Produce a 30 minute docudrama on HIV/AIDS Prevention amongst youth through behaviour change communication
.TAYOA Helpline Resource Centre become a valuable resource for journalists of print, radio and Television to access diverse, accurate and current HIV/AIDS and related information
