Combating Gender Based Violence in Tanzania
Objectives: 1.To build a vibrant network of human
rights organizations, government
institutions and other stakeholders
willing and able to play a meaningful
role in combating gender based
violence in the country.
2.To act as a resource for coordination
and linkage on gender based violence
among policy makers, government
institutions, human rights NGOs and
CBOs as well as victims of gender
violence.
3.To create awareness to the public on
evils of Gender Based Violence.
4.To disseminate information on
strategies and mechanisms on
combating Gender Based Violence (GBV).
5.To strengthen the capacity of legal aid providers on skills and techniques of combating and monitoring Gender Based Violence
6.To create awareness to stakeholders on Policies, Legisl
Activities: Four main activities will be carried out in the project. They include:-
-Launching of the 16 Days Campaign
against Gender Violence.
-Establishment of a National Coalition
on Gender Based Violence.
-Publication and Dissemination of
Gender Based Violence materials.
-Capacity Building to police officials,
local government authorities and
health workers on Gender Based
Violence (policies, legislation and
international instruments)
