Support Contribution by Delegation of the European Commission in Tanzania


Addressing sexual and reproductive health among female youth working in informal sector


Objectives:
- To contribute to the control of the HIV/Aids pandemic (MDG6) and to poverty alleviation among youth in Northern zone of Tanzania
- The sexual and reproductive health situation as well as the socio-economic status of female working in informal sector in Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions is significantly improved

Activities:
- Train youth on life skills and ASRH
- Establish youth clubs, support ASRH & IGA activities
- Produce and distribute ASRH IEC material
- Support to provision of ASRH services
- Train health service providers
- Accreditation of service providers
- Establish YF ASRH services within public & private health provision & referral systems
- Train female youth workers in IGA improvement
- Link female youth seeking self-employment with micro credit institutions/government funds
- Initiate a resource centre
- Support re-registering in school/vocational training
- Support search for employment
- Sensitize employers, female youth workers on employment and SRH policies
- Advocate for enactment of laws
- Initiate act-up group of employers as model enterprise/improved workplace policy
