Support Contribution by Delegation of the European Commission in Tanzania
Access to potable water, basic sanitation and hygiene promotion programme in Kigoma Rural district.
Objectives: Overall objective: Poverty reduction in Kigoma Rural District through the achievement of water access and the improvement of basic sanitation.
Specific objectives:
1) Permanent supply of safe water;
2) Strengthened local and district institutions;
3) Promotion of hygiene promotion and basic sanitation.
Activities: -Construct water supplies systems meeting people’s demand and provide sufficient amount of safe water in each of the 14 selected villages.
-Capacity buidling of community to manage water supply services
-Implement hygiene promotion programs.
-Improve basic sanitation
-Capacity of District Water Department staff to assist communities with water regulations, operation and management.
